Great results are achieved by beginning with a thorough assessment to identify the cause of your problem. We start by treating your painful parts to have you feeling better fast and then target the reason for your injury to achieve long lasting results. Goals are set together and a treatment plan is then developed for a speedy recovery.
A variety of techniques are used to address all the contributing factors including giving you information on your condition and active strategies to achieve your goals quickly. This may include alternative exercise to keep you fit and healthy while recovering from your injury. The knowledge you gain will serve you well to manage your symptoms and speed up the recovery process.
Some techniques which are used to achieve your goals:
Soft tissue massage – in a lot of painful conditions you develop excess muscle tension. Soft tissue massage can reduce this tension to help you move better and reduce your pain.
Joint mobilisation & mobilisation with movement – if you have a stiff joint these techniques can have you moving freely again.
Neural dynamic techniques – this is specific body movements guided by your physiotherapist to glide nerves which may be stuck by postural faults or tight muscles.
Taping or braces – in the short term your body may need stability and rest from aggravating activities which can be provided by these aids.
Dry needling – Is like acupuncture except with a treatment goal of reducing muscle tension or promoting a healing response. Powerful results can be achieved quickly.
Specific muscle control exercise – Long term results can be achieved by reactivating your stabilising muscles if they have switched off.
Specific muscle stretching – Your immediate treatment results will be maintained for longer with an active home stretching program specifically instructed by your physiotherapist for you.
Biomechanical & alignment cueing – often a biomechanical fault will cause you an injury, so if you want to avoid this from reoccurring, training strategies will be instructed for optimal and long lasting results. |
