Football boot review 2014

Football training has started & if you need new boots there are a few things to consider when choosing the right one for you. Aside from the latest trends with colours getting brighter & crazier, you might want a boot that helps you be more agile & faster… who doesn’t??

Most boot companies are continuing to lead the way toward better performance with light weight material for less energy expenditure and minimal or no heel differential (the difference in height between the heel and the forefoot) for better awareness of the foot position to the ground (proprioception).  Both of these factors combined improve performance and reduce the risk of injury, a dual-bonus for any athlete!

Asics continue to develop their boots in the opposite direction. They have a high heel differential, which puts the ankle in a higher, more unstable position. A higher heel differential may be good for a return from an Achilles or calf injury, but worn long term leads to less strength and durability.

Remember to also consider the boots fit for your foot, go with one which feels good in the width & length.
